Explained connections
- The Son of Man on the clouds
Daniel sees 'one like a son of man' coming with the clouds to receive everlasting dominion from the Ancient of Days. Under oath before the high priest, Jesus claims this vision (with Psalm 110:1) for himself — the high priest calls it blasphemy.
- "I am"
In Mark's account Jesus answers the high priest's question 'Are you the Christ?' with 'I am', then cites Daniel 7. It is his clearest public self-identification and seals the verdict against him.
- Behold, he comes with clouds
Revelation's opening announcement fuses Daniel 7:13 with Zechariah 12:10. The Son of Man returning on the clouds is the pierced one whom every eye will see.
- All authority given
The son of man in Daniel receives dominion, glory and a kingdom so all peoples serve him. The risen Jesus announces 'all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me' and sends his disciples to all nations.
- The saints reign
Daniel's vision gives the kingdom to the people of the saints of the Most High. Revelation ends with God's servants reigning for ever and ever.
- Hair white as wool
Daniel's Ancient of Days has clothing white as snow and hair like pure wool. John sees the risen Christ with hair white as wool — features of God's own appearance.
