Explained connections
- The Lion of the tribe of Judah
Jacob's dying blessing pictures Judah as a lion's cub, the tribe of royal strength. In John's vision the only one worthy to open the sealed scroll is announced as the Lion of Judah — who then appears as a slain Lamb, fusing royal and sacrificial imagery.
- The Lamb as though slain
Isaiah's servant goes like a lamb to the slaughter. In heaven's throne room John turns to see the Lion of Judah and sees a Lamb standing as though slain — Christ's victory comes through sacrifice.
