Explained connections
- Joseph's bones carried out
Joseph makes Israel swear to carry his bones from Egypt when God visits them. Four centuries later Moses takes the bones with him at the exodus — a promise kept across generations.
- Joseph's dying instruction
Hebrews selects this detail from all of Joseph's life: by faith he spoke of the exodus and gave instructions about his bones. Even dying, he looked forward to God's promise.
- You meant evil, God meant good
Joseph tells his brothers their evil intent was used by God to save many lives. Peter's Pentecost sermon has the same shape: lawless men crucified Jesus, yet it happened by God's set purpose to bring salvation.
