Explained connections
- God's name blasphemed among the Gentiles
Isaiah says God's name is reviled because of Israel's exile. Paul applies it to hypocrisy: those who teach the law but break it cause outsiders to dishonour God.
- Circumcision of the heart
Moses calls Israel to circumcise their hearts and stop being stubborn. Paul says true circumcision is of the heart, by the Spirit, not merely the body — an idea already in the Torah.
