Explained connections

Moses promises that after exile God himself will circumcise Israel's hearts. Ezekiel promises a new heart and spirit, replacing stone with flesh — the inner renewal later linked to the new covenant.
- Written on hearts of flesh
Ezekiel contrasts hearts of stone and flesh. Paul says the Corinthians are a letter written by the Spirit not on stone tablets but on tablets of human hearts — new covenant ministry.
- The Spirit enables obedience
God promises to put his Spirit within his people and cause them to walk in his statutes. Paul says the law's just requirement is fulfilled in those who walk by the Spirit.
