Explained connections
- Solomon's dedication prayer
Solomon's long prayer at the temple's dedication appears in both histories. Chronicles adds details, such as the bronze platform he knelt on.
- Glory fills the house
The cloud of glory fills the newly built tabernacle so Moses cannot enter. Centuries later the same happens at Solomon's temple: priests cannot stand to minister. God's presence moves into each dwelling he chooses.
- Not contained in temples
At the temple's dedication Solomon admits heaven itself cannot contain God, much less a house. Paul tells the Athenians the same: the Lord of heaven and earth does not live in shrines made by hands.
- You are God's temple
The cloud filling Solomon's temple marked God's residence. Paul tells the Corinthians that they, together, are now God's temple, and his Spirit lives in them.
